Singing heart-centered, spirited songs
"These are women who really listen to each other; that is at the center of their magic for me. They listen from the heart, for the heart: heart of the earth, heart of the people, the heart of the ancestors. When they open their mouths to sing the heart-truths they hear, I am entranced by the imagery that flows and inspired by the blessing of their inter-resonate harmonies." --MB
Ancestra writes most of the songs, and arranges them all. Our a cappella style ranges in influence from blues, rock, country, gospel and classical. We occasionally mix instruments here and there to add new flavor to our songs. Influential songwriters and singers include John and Paul, Copper Wimmin, Chris Williamson, Loreena McKennitt, Wailin' Jennys, Trio Mediaeval, Ulali and more!

See where we're playing next via the Web site MadTown Lounge. Be sure and sign our guestbook while you stop in!
We're also connected to Broadjam, to support the MAMAs (Madison Area Music Awards) which benefits the music programs for Madison schools.
